Some IHT Planning is simple and cheap, but that is covered in the ebook: more sophisticated measures typically are in the £ thousands, and can be much more.   Having said that, they will probably save you many times the IHT that would have been paid for the IHT Planning fees.

Low Cost IHT Planning

We would encourage you to read the IHT Planning ebook first – it is pointless paying experts a modest fortune to be told things you could learn for £14.95.  The ebook is short and to the point, and you will find many sections are not relevant to you so they can be skipped.  Within an hour you could have written out your IHT Planning.  Then you can see how much IHT Planning is still needed and whether it is worth spending the initial consultation fee which is typically £350 + VAT.  That fee is credited against any work which you may then decide to commission, but is non-refundable.

IHT Planning is an art, not a science, and we try to avoid “leading edge” IHT Planning solutions which are very likely to be challenged by Her Majesties Revenue and Customs.  That can make things expensive and long winded.  So better safe than sorry, unless you are keen to go as far as possible.  Very often, relative straightforward IHT Planning devices will do the job at low risk.
